Save a Soul
Brother Ibrahim Ahmed - 33 years old from Sokoto State earning his living and supporting his family of a wife and 3 daughters aged 7, 4 and 2 as a driver. His, is a sad story, one of the many that affect the lives of the poor people of Sokoto state.
Brother Ibrahim had an accident while driving from Lagos to Sokoto on a bridge in Jega local government of Kebbi state after a busted tyre in December 2008. The vehicle tumble down the bridge and Ibrahim suffered a spinal chord injury and was completely paralyzed.
He was taken to the Specialist hospital in Sokoto but due to the severity of his case he was latter transferred to Usman Fodio University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH) Sokoto where he was abandoned by his boss.
Ibrahim stayed at the hospital for about 2 months and all his life possession were exhausted in trying to meet up with the expenses. Eventually, he left the hospital because of his in-ability to meet-up. Ibrahim suffered a deep cut on his back which because of the poor hygiene condition and lack of treatment when he returned home, it worsened and maggot were seen coming out of it. He was motionless and his body was being eaten alive, all he could do was to be crying aloud for over a month in his family house with no help except from the wife who became the only one trying her best to take care of him including their 3 daughters until the news came to the meef foundation.
Immediately, I visited him and all I could describe to you at the moment is that he was in the greatest pain, the family hungry and desperate and the daughters have since abandoned school with no help coming forth!!
The last time I dropped tears was when my mum died and I was pouring sand on her grave joining in burying her until when I met Ibrahim in his maggot stinky bed, barely motionless and the wife by the side, tired of doing everything, hungry looking and desperate for someone to take over!!!
The meef foundation has currently taken Ibrahim back to the UDUTH hospital over a month ago and his condition has drastically improved and the cut is healing fast. We are not only taking care of him but also taking care of the families feeding and 2 of the daughters were returned back to school while the youngest is still keeping the mum busy at home.
